Rotating barrel shot blasters are designed for batch cleaning of small workpieces varying in dimensions and shapes.
They can be used for shot blasting of small castings, forgings, and heat-treated parts, as well as machined parts in repair shops.
Cleaning efficiency is obtained by both blasting wheels and by mutual friction when tumbling inside the barrel.
Although they are usually used in batch cycles with an operator manually loading/unloading the barrel, they can also be integrated in a partially automatic production with the addition of a hydraulic loader and unloading conveyor in front of the machine.
The drum is 22 13/16-inch diameter and has a 1 1/2 cubic feet maximum loading capacity. It can process parts ranging from 1/4″ to 4″ diameter and has a load capacity of up to 176 lb.
Parts are loaded in a rotating mesh barrel to allow abrasive media to fall through. The barrel is mounted on the blasting chamber door for easy access and the blast wheel is located on the top of the chamber for optimal shot blasting performance.
As the parts rotate and tumble inside the barrel, they are exposed to the abrasive propelled by the ir sm@rt multi-option blast wheels ranging from 5.5 to 30 kW, providing efficient shot blasting and quick results.
Parts can be loaded manually by the user or with a forklift truck. When discharging, the barrel is positioned in a way that parts fall by gravity on a pallet, a container, or whatever means to collect them.
The production process can be partially automated with the addition of a hydraulic loader and an unloading conveyor tailored to the customer’s specifications, so the parts can move on to the next working station without any intervention.
After use, residual abrasive media falls down the bottom of the blasting chamber, where it is conveyed by screw conveyors and a bucket elevator to an automatic media cleaner.
The abrasive reclaimer provides continuous handling and recycling of abrasive media based on particle size in order to maintain optimal and consistent quality blasting.
For heavily regulated applications, a magnetic and/or vibratory particle separator can be added to precisely sort the abrasive shots based on their size and density.
All shot blasters are equipped with PLC, display, timer, automatic or manual mode, automatic start-up of the blast wheels, working-hours counter, and other basic features.
Blast wheels and blasting chamber inner walls are protected by wear-resistant shields made from manganese steel liners for extremely long service life.
Blast wheels can be equipped with a frequency drive and ir sm@rt valve to precisely control the flow of media for optimal results.
