What makes IST sandblasting cabinets unique?

With over 40 years in business, IST Surface Technologies knows a thing or two about building high quality sandblasting cabinets.

Our sandblasting cabinets are high quality and built to last. Some clients have been using the same cabinet in industrial and commercial settings, for over 25 years without issue.

Although our cabinets are not the cheapest priced cabinets on the market, as the old saying goes, “You get what you pay for”.

Here are a few things that make IST sandblasting cabinets such high quality, and what differentiates us from the competition:

  • High quality 14 gauge steel construction.
  • Welded, not bolted together
  • LED Lighting for the Best Visibility
  • Our proprietary AR-7 valve, that minimizes maintenance and downtime
  • Customizable to meet your specific needs
  • Automatable options to make your life even easier
  • Ease of use & low maintenance
  • Built in North America

High Quality 14-gauge Steel Construction

IST Surface sandblasting cabinets are made of high quality 14-gauge steel for maximum durability. Many of the lesser quality competing cabinets on the market use 16-gauge steel or worse. High quality, thick steel makes a cabinet last longer, and less likely to break when working with or moving the cabinet.

Welded, not Bolted Together

IST sandblasting cabinets are assembled using high quality welds, not bolted together like some competing cabinets on the market. Bolts come loose, and become used, providing a common point of failure for this type of equipment. By using a welded design, it allows our cabinets to be highly durable, and assure a long-lasting service life.

LED Lighting for the Best Visibility

Proprietary AR-7 Valve

Typically, sandblasting cabinets use what is called a Schmidt valve. Although the Schmidt valve is a very good, application specific valve, designed for sandblasting, it has been known to clog often. The other problem with the Schmidt valve is that because it is highly engineered, when it clogs or breaks, it is complicated and costly to service.

Our proprietary AR-7 valve was engineered to have a much simpler mechanism, with the same performance. This simpler design offers the same high performance, while being more reliable, minimizing costly downtime and requiring much less maintenance. Our AR-7 valve has years of proven field use and is highly appreciated by our clients.

Customizable to meet your specific needs

Both of our lines of sandblasting cabinets, the ECAB and M-Series cabinets, have multiple options available for you to choose from to meet your specific needs.

In addition to the off-the shelf options, our top-of-the-line M series cabinets can be further customized and engineered to fit specific requirements, making them a top choice for companies with highly specific needs.

  • Various door options & safety switches
  • Rubber lining protection
  • Material handling systems
  • And more!

Designed to maximize Ergonomics

With over 40 years of experience in the sandblasting industry, we know a thing or two about what it takes to operate a sandblasting cabinet all day. Having an ergonomic design will maximize productivity from your operators, increasing your company’s bottom line.

Some of our innovative ergonomic features include a no-Contact foot pedal, adjustable working height, tiltable work table, optional arm rest and more.

Automatable options to make your life even easier

Our-top of the line M-Series cabinets can be optionally automated, making operation of your sandblasting cabinet even easier, and less costly. Automation has a higher upfront cost, but more than pays for itself in labour savings on the long term. With our automation options, you can turn your manual blast cabinet into a semi-automated finishing system with the addition of a Tumbling Basket, Rotary Head, Fixed Nozzle Support, or Nozzles which move on a horizontal or vertical axle.

Ease of use & low maintenance

Our sandblasting cabinets are engineered to be easy to use, and to require the least amount of maintenance possible. Over the years, we heard from many customers, that some cabinet on the market require regular and/or costly maintenance, that they simply don’t have the expertise or time to perform.

Support from a team of experts

Downtime can be extremely costly for a business. When your equipment breaks or has an issue, you want to be sure to have a team of experts available to help you troubleshoot, and get your equipment back up and running. A secondary, but equally important consideration is the availability of replacement parts. With IST, these considerations become non-issues. Our team of experts is always available, and our large inventory of replacement parts is ready to ship worldwide.

Built in North America

All IST Surface equipment is built here in North America, to North American quality and safety standards. When you buy an IST Surface sandblasting cabinet, you are investing in quality.
