GMA Garnet

GMA Garnet™ abrasive consists of grains of natural almandine garnet known for their hardness, durability, and abrasion properties. It is free from heavy metals or toxic components and meets all the health and safety requirements.

GMA Garnet™ is a highly hard and heavy abrasive. It enhances the sandblaster’s productivity by providing high efficiency and rapid action in a wide range of applications related to cleaning and stripping resistant industrial coatings. Its performance is comparable to more expensive synthetic abrasives, but its natural composition makes it more environmentally friendly. It can also be recycled multiple times, offering substantial savings compared to abrasives with low recyclability.

APPLICATIONS:

Thorough and uniform cleaning of metal parts

The shape of GMA GarnetTM grains ensures even cleaning down to 50-75 microns on all metal surfaces (when controlled blasting pressure is applied). It effectively achieves SSPC-SP10, Near White Metal (Society for Protective Coatings and NACE International Standard) cleaning standards.

Its hardness acts effectively and quickly on the surface to be cleaned. GMA GarnetTM delivers high productivity and impeccable results by eliminating rust and other stubborn contaminants.

Surface preparation

GMA GarnetTM provides consistent and predictable surface preparation, thereby improving coating quality and adhesion. Its utility has been proven in various applications, and its competitive price makes it an excellent choice whether recovered or not at the end of the process.

GMA GarnetTM is widely used in the following applications:

  • Shipbuilding for ship construction, conversion, and repair, especially for special processes involving non-magnetic steels, aluminum superstructures, and aluminum or fiberglass hulls.
  • Oil and petrochemical industry for maintenance work in refineries and storage tanks, both onshore and offshore installations.
  • Construction and maintenance of chemical plants, nuclear or fossil fuel power plants, gas power plants, sewage treatment plants, and sewer systems, as well as industrial or desalination installations.
  • Construction and maintenance of containers and tanks, tank trucks, tank wagons, as well as railway wagons and passenger trains.
  • Construction and maintenance of stainless steel bridges and locks.
  • Building industry and structural steel.
  • Building facades and stone monuments.
  • Non-ferrous surfaces and turbine blades.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Generates minimal dust – significantly enhances sandblaster visibility.
  • Increased productivity – its hardness and aggressiveness enable quick and effective action, boosting sandblaster productivity and reducing abrasive consumption.
  • Low consumption – its grain shape provides extensive surface coverage, and its efficiency reduces abrasive consumption for a given result.
  • Chemical properties – chemically inert and non-magnetic, versatile for various processes.
  • Superior surface quality – its grains deeply clean cavities and hard-to-reach areas, providing a high-quality anchor profile to the surface, contributing to increased paint and coating adhesion.
  • Operator safety – it’s a non-toxic material free from heavy metals or radioactive contaminants.
  • High recyclability – GMA GarnetTM can be reused for 5 to 10 cycles while retaining its properties, reducing abrasive consumption, as well as the costs of purchasing and disposing of used abrasives.
